DVTk Library 3.1.9
Dicom Validation Tool 2.6.6

There is little problem with 'Basic Voice Audio Waveform Storage.def' definition file. It has definition:
>(0x54001010,1,OW/OB,1) "Waveform Data"
which generates error if data is encoded as 'OB' VRType:
" >(5400,1010) OW OB 1 + 96400 Waveform Data C:\Program Files (x86)\DVTk\DVT\Bin\B08_0010.pix
Error: Attribute (5400,1010) VR of OB differs from definition VR of OW"

When I swap OW and OB places in definition file:
>(0x54001010,1,OB/OW,1) "Waveform Data"
validation passes correctly.

VRType '/' == 'OR' syntax is not correct, it takes only first member and ignores everything else.

I've tried also '\' which seams to be correct syntax for 'OR' comp.
so final line would look like:
>(0x54001010,1,OW\OB,1) "Waveform Data"

I've updated other lines with OW/OB to OW\OB, you may want to do the same. Haven't checked other definition files, you may need to check them as well.

Q: Also was little confused, new Dicom Standard 2012 was released, but there are no new definition files. Last one is from 2011-07-19. will be there soon new definition files released?

LS,

thanks for sharing your findings with us.

I have asked a colleage to figure out what causes this problem (wrong definition file(s) or wrong interpretation of the definition files).

When I have more information on this problem and the updates needed for 2012, I will let you know.

Regards,
Marco
