I am troubleshooting a system that cannot complete the validation of a DICOM image. I have reinstalled DVT 2.3.1, .NET 1.1, and DCM V&V. The program hangs and I have let it run up to 10 minutes. After ending the process, the application event log includes an entry complaining about hungapp at 0x00000000.
The command window running DvtCmd looks the same (as far as Validation errors of 9, and and exit code -2) on the problem machine and a machine that can finish the validation.

The requirements do not specify hardware specifications, and I have opened the *.dcm image on 2 other machines (roughly the same systems with exception to having more RAM) without issue.

Any thoughts? I appreciate any help you may be.

Depending on the size of the DICOM file, DICOM Viewer and Validator can indeed be memmory hungry. How large is the file that you are trying to open?

41 KB ain't a large file at all, so that shouldn't be the problem. Is it possible you send us the file, so we can look into this problem?

Was there any resolution to this? I have what appears to be the same problem. The validation tool seems to run fine. The cmd window remains on the screen and the last command to be displayed is the del of *.idx files. Eventually the viewer / validator go "not responding".

Not yet and it looked like an isolated case. But since you are now also reporting this issue I will ask if this issue can be put on the agenda for the next V-Con we have so we can discuss this. I will get back to you after that.
