Hello, I am interested in writing DICOM scripts and web driven application but I have no idea where to even start. I was directed to this site by a collegue. I was looking at the DICOM scripts section of the forums and was wondering where the scripts were being generated? Do I need to have DVTK installed in order to develop scripts? Where can I see an example of an association and image tranfer from start to finish? I have some experience with VB Scripts and ASP but other than that, I'm as green as they come so if you could "dumb it down" for me, that would be great.
Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,
The first step is to download and install DVT latest version. Second step is to play with DVT GUI after opening example.pdvt supplied with DVT installation. The example.pdvt is the DVT project and exists in DVT installation directory(i.e. C:\Program Files\DVT\example). You can check the sample DICOM scripts in DVT and take the help of DVT User Guide for understanding from Help menu. Also it's possible to write VB scripts using High Level Interfaces. We showed presentations/demos in DVTk Eye-to-Eye meeting recently held in Berlin. All the demos/presentations will be uploaded on site so please check the demo related to VB scripts created by Marco. Regards, Piyush

Hi,
I am working with the OFFIS DCMTK but has seen today the DVTK and I am very interested using it within my Visual Basic Version 6.0 application. Unfortunately I do not know how to address the DLLs because referencing any DCTK*.DLL within my VB6 application is rejected by VB6. Are there any examples of using DVTK with VB6? Kind regards Beat

Hi Beat,
when writing a VB application, we use VB.NET under Visual Studio .NET 2003, so I have no experience with writing VB6 applications using DVTk dll's. As the DVTk dll's are using the .NET 1.1 runtime, I think you should first check of .NET 1.1 dll's may be used in VB6. Hope this helps. Marco
